Children’s Tennis Workshop Nairobi, Kenya

Location: Kenya

Community: Kibera

Number of children involved: 30

Lives in Focus had the immense privilege of bringing something entirely new to a group of children in Nairobi, Kenya – a padel tennis experience like no other.

We welcomed 30 children, many of whom live in the nearby Kibera settlement – the largest urban slum in the world. These children face daily challenges that many of us can only imagine, and opportunities to play, to be active, and to simply be children are few and far between.

For most, this was their very first time stepping onto a padel court. They were introduced to the sport by a team of passionate and talented Kenyan coaches who generously gave their time and energy to guide, encourage, and inspire. The children learned the basics of padel, played games together, and experienced the joy of movement, teamwork, and trying something completely new.

But the impact went far beyond the court. Every child who attended also received a nutritious meal – a vital part of our mission. At Lives in Focus, we believe that no child should have to learn or play on an empty stomach. The combination of sport, nourishment, and positive encouragement created a space that felt safe, joyful, and full of potential.

And here’s the most powerful part: it costs just $25 to give a child a place on one of these sessions. That’s $25 to offer them a new experience, a meal, a sense of belonging – and maybe even a spark of hope.

For a child living in difficult circumstances, this might be the moment they begin to believe that change is possible. That their dreams matter. That their future can look different.

This is exactly what Lives in Focus exists to do – to open doors, to create moments of light, and to show young people that they are seen, supported, and full of promise.
